Elena Dana is a singer-songwriter, a jazz vocalist, a vocal coach and a founder of Sing Jazz International - SJI.
Currently based in South Cyprus of Nicosia District, Elena brings the vibrance, diversity and positivity with her live performances and soothing sound to her recorded material. Elena's original songs blend the tongue-in-cheek humour with deep soul searching entourage. Bringing the fusion of gypsy and jazz sounds together and adding forties elegant feel to the jazz standards somehow making them her own, Elena performs all over the world, sharing her passion and love of music, singing her heart out - everywhere she goes.
As a British National with Russian, Ukrainian and Bulgarian roots, Elena made London her home, and since 2007 Elena has been active in songwriting circles playing a number of gigs around the town. Elena played in venues such as iconic Union Chapel in Islington, Rich Mix in Shoreditch, Spice of Life in Soho, Charlie Wrights and The Betsy Trotwood. She held a residency at the George & Vulture in Hoxton and Urban Bar in Whitechapel.
The UK tour included the slots at the Latitude Festival in 2016, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2010, the Antifolk Festival in New York in 2008, and local gigs in Goa India, Bonito Brazil, San Francisco & NYC in the USA in 2007-2008 to mention a few.
Educated to a Master Degree in Cultural Policy & Management at the City University London, Elena has been trained as a Music Educator at the British Academy of New Music in East London and as a Performing Artist at the Kiev Stage School.
Over the last twelve years, Elena has promoted and coached over a hundred of songwriters, musicians and aspiring singers while organising regular events to showcase their talent. Elena set up four pop-up schools dedicated to vocal training, one in England - London, one in Edinburgh - Scotland, another one in the Hague - The Netherlands and one in Nicosia - Cyprus with many visiting jazz educators from the industry leading to one online Jazz Singer's Platform SJI which has united all the efforts.
